Paul Metrinko’s paintings visually explore the people, places and things that surround him. His paintings are equally a living pictorial memoir and an earnest contribution to the storied tradition of figurative painting.

Paul pursued his technical studies at The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Art and Certificate in Painting. Born and raised in Philadelphia, Paul naturally turned to the cityscape and his intimate personal spaces for inspiration.

Paul’s ethereal and painterly snapshots of his life have been featured most recently at the Woodmere Art Museum and Artists’ House Gallery in Philadelphia, PA and the Main Line Art Center in Ardmore, PA. Paul’s technical paint handling skills combined with his intellectual study of space imbue his canvases with an inimitable enigmatic quality that have earned him Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Grant, a Vermont Studio School Residency and The Lois and Charles X. Landscape Residency. His work is included in permanent museum collections and private collections.

Currently living and working in New York City, Paul’s work is expanding as he continues the ongoing conversation he has with the spaces he inhabits and encounters.
