Deborah Kahn

Deborah Kahn graduated with an MFA in painting from Yale University in 1978. After graduating from Yale, she moved to New York City, where she lived and painted until 1982. She left New York in 1982 to teach painting and drawing at Indiana University, Bloomington, IN. In 1986, she returned to New York and taught drawing as an adjunct professor at Yale University and Queens College, City University of New York. In 1989, she joined the Department of Art Faculty at American University, Washington, D.C., and taught painting and drawing until she retired in 2012. In 2004, Deborah Kahn was a recipient of the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship. Kahn exhibits her work at the Bowery Gallery in New York City, Gross McCleaf Gallery in Philadelphia and at Les Yeux du Monde in Charlottesville, VA.

Her exhibitions include solo shows at the Kittredge Gallery, University of Puget Sound, Tacoma, WA; Wright State University, Dayton, OH; The Taft School, Watertown, CT; August State University, Augusta, GA, Dartmouth College, Hanover, NH and the Washington Studio School, Washington, D.C. She has been in numerous group exhibitions, including at the Albright Knox Museum in Buffalo, NY, and the Toyota Municipal Museum in Nagoya, Japan. Her work has been reviewed in the Washington Post, The Hartford Courant, The Philadelphia Inquirer and Art in America.
